Introduction to Unified Information Management Architecture
BA-Insight enables Unified Information Management (UIM) powered by its unique patent-pending technology called the Enterprise Dataspace™ platform . UIM delivers to the business a single point-of-access to all enterprise information, regardless of location or format. It also provides a rich set of contextual actions for any data record, enabling powerful workflows within a unified information context.

UIM is defined by the intersection of the following three pillars:
  1. Unified information integration: Metadata, records, documents, emails, etc. are converted from proprietary formats and repositories into UXL, Unified Exchange Language. Security is treated as another piece of metadata associated with the underlying data or content. Finally, end-user behavior and system interactions are captured to complete the unified view of all business data.
  2. Unified information processing: Data and text transformations, aggregations, mappings, and other calculations are defined and performed through a self-service user interface. A rich set of metadata generation, workflow, business intelligence, text analytics, and dynamic preview capabilities are converging into a single platform.
  3. Unified information access: Storage, business logic, and data presentation layers are fully integrated into a single information access platform, simplifying and accelerating the delivery of a business solution by taking full advantage of a service-oriented architecture.

The Enterprise Dataspace Platform Architecture
BA-Insight’s unique patent-pending Enterprise Dataspace™ platform is composed of several core components, packaged as two separate product lines, Longitude Search and Longitude Connectors product lines.

Longitude Connectors is a full-fledged unified information integration framework that delivers instant value out-of-the-box for all popular packaged applications, ranging from ERP, CRM, ECM, and Messaging systems. It is comprised of the following components:
  1. Direct API’s to all popular packaged applications, including ERP, CRM, ECM, and Messaging systems.
  2. A pro-active cache of both content change logs and security mappings, shielding your mission-critical business applications from query overload or impacting your search application scalability.
  3. An asynchronous security mapping engine of both static and dynamic users and groups/roles from heterogeneous source systems to a search index, SharePoint, or other database.
  4. A metadata generation engine enabling the following core capabilities:
    1. Entity relationships such as document to database record, contract in Documentum to SAP invoice record, project in Oracle to SharePoint tasks, etc.
    2. Auto-classification of records and documents based on business entities stored in backend systems
    3. Manual classification of records and documents in ECM or SharePoint based on tag lists synchronized with backend systems
    4. Calculated properties such as URL path to project or department attributes, content type and modified date to archiving status, etc.
  5. A data synch engine enabling selected content to be pushed to any target systems, including a search index, a database, or a SharePoint list or library.

Longitude Search is a full-fledged unified information processing and unified information access framework delivering out-of-the-box instant value for your search application. It is comprised of the following components:
  1. A dynamic preview calculation engine that computes of a full Unified Exchange Language (UXL) computation of any document, semi-structured, or structured record
  2. A unified content and data viewer built in Silverlight Rich Internet Application (RIA) framework and .NET that renders dynamically an instant and actionable view of the document or record at hand.
  3. An end-user behavior tracking engine that uniquely captures explicit user actions to profile user intent and a content popularity score called AptivRank. The popularity score is used to boost search engine relevancy in a similar fashion as Google PageRank™ on the Internet.
  4. A metadata generation engine that extracts concepts, table of contents, and a full-text index from any document.
